Abangani showed no signs of trying to make friends with Obaba as they humiliated us 5-1 at Bonamelo soccer grounds in Thulani, on 09 April 2023.
It’s a day that started very well as we tried to recover from the two defeats from the past two league matches. Bhekinkosi Thandeka scored early in the first half. That goal gave us hope.
But moments after scoring, before we could even catch our breath, Abangani scored their first. Another one came in minutes after scoring their first.
Obaba came back fighting, as expected. But we weren’t closed at the back, evidently, and Abangani took advantage. They scored two more goals before the whistle for halftime. We went to halftime with four goals down to one.
The technical team made attacking substitutions by bringing on the two Simangas. They came in for Mosiuwa Simba Nthinya and Bhekinkosi Thandeka. We also made a defensive substitution, as we wanted to close at the back as well. That saw us bring in Paul Bricks Lekgetho for Bongani Papa Shelembe. Papa has been sidelined by an injury for over two months. His last participation was in a 1-1 draw against Thulamela Masters in April.
As if the scoreline wasn’t enough. Abangani scored their fifth goal of the day in the dying minutes of the match. Thus ending the dreadful day that Obaba was enduring.
This coming week, we are playing against Protea Glen Extensions 4 FC. The Protea side is responsible for knocking us out of the KFSL tournament a fortnight ago. We can only hope and pray…
