Fathers FC Held to a Draw Despite Dominant Display Against Ndofaya United

Soweto| Thulani| Block 4

Fathers showcased some of their best football this past weekend but had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Ndofaya United Football Club, also known as Amabhubesi, in a match that left their supporters with mixed emotions.

The encounter began with Fathers asserting early dominance, stringing together crisp passes and creating dangerous chances in the final third. JD opened the scoring for Fathers around the 34th minute, finishing off a fluid attacking move that reflected the side’s composure and intent.

However, Ndofaya United were handed a lifeline before halftime when they were awarded a penalty, which they converted confidently to level the score at 1-1. The penalty shifted the tempo slightly, but Fathers maintained their pressure throughout the second half.

Despite being the better team for large stretches of the game, Fathers struggled to convert their chances — most notably when Sgubudo found himself with a golden opportunity right in front of goal but failed to hit the target. That miss, along with three other clear-cut chances that went begging, kept the scoreline frustratingly level.

Coach and players alike will be ruing the missed opportunities, especially in a game where the team-controlled possession and tempo for long periods. Still, the draw keeps Fathers on steady ground as they look ahead to their next fixtures with determination.

On the day, the performance was encouraging — but the result was a reminder that goals win games, and composure in front of goal remains the key.
