Fathers make it 3 on 3 with 3 goals!

Obaba scores 3 goals to make it 3 consecutive wins, against KA77 All Stars, at BRT Rea Vaya Depot grounds in Meadowlands on May 07, 2023.

Match – Report

It’s been a long time since Obaba Babo were on this form. This good run will definitely see them move from the 15th spot that they currently sit on.

The encounter never had a winner before, in the 2 matches that were played last season, saw both sides sharing the spoils 1-1 and 2-2 when they hosted Obaba at Dobsonville Caltex ground. On paper the odds were against Obaba they had collected 4 in the last 5 matches, with KA77 All Stars collecting double the points in as many matches. At the start of the match, KA77 was seating on 12th place with 18 points. Fathers were on 15th with 17 points collected, with a game in hand. With the match ending 3-1 to Fathers, it means that they move about KA77 All-Stars.

The match had what spectators all want in a football match and that is action and most of all goals. One would think that it would never live up to the standards of the past match against Mahenyahenya where we saw the team putting 6 past the side from Norkem Park from the north of Kempton Park. This is because coach Dumisani Majarha Makhubu made some major changes again in this match when compared to the previous one. He’s showing his prowess as a coach or maybe just showing off the depth of what he has at his disposal. Whichever one it may be, it’s clearly working on his advantage and most of all the team’s advantage.

Simanga Dihno Magubane was the hero of the day, as he converted 2 goals from the penalty spot in the second half. This follows some heroics from the previous match from Paul Piriza Shelile, where we saw him also taking his brace against Mahenyahenya. Bonginkosi Bobs Dingana also joined the party just before the match ended with a goal from him.

With the current form that the team is experiencing, I guess it is safe to say “next on the firing line” is Tshiawelo Masters Football Club.
