Zingu 👆🏿 uma ziphelele as we cruise past Zola United!

Fathers Football Club have bagged another win in a row, in a KFSL League game, making it their 7 consecutive wins. This is after yet another hard-fought victory against midtable placed Zola United Legends with a 2-1 win at home, Bonamelo Primary School grounds, in Thulani.

Obaba keeps on breaking their own record in this marvellous run they have been having, as they have made it 9 games unbeaten.

We never started on a good foot in the first half, as we went to halftime with 0-0 to show. One would think that perhaps jitters were settling in, as it happened on 6 August 2022 when we unveiled our blue kit against Jabavu Masters and ended up going down by 4 goals to 1.

Match – Report

But came the second half, the team was a different one as coach Mduduzi Stihebe, who is part of the 3 men’s Technical team consisting of Mfanafuthi “Sinyere” Mabuza and Paul “Bricks” Lekgetho, had a motivational talk with Obaba during half time.

The second half saw a new revived team that we have been accustomed to the past 6 games. With Simanga Sgubudu Shabalala changing the scoreboard’s layout. This is Sgubudu’s 7th goal in 11 matches, giving a ratio of 0.64 goals per match. Only to be followed by Simanga Dihno Magubane with a 0.35 ratio.

It wasn’t long after, the visitors pulled one back from Sheila Morgan Radebe, our former player. Morgan left us to pursue his soccer career with Zola United Legends last year.

We pulled one back from the recently surprising goal scorer in Bongani “Njection” Maduna. It’s Njection’s second match in 2 consecutive matches, his last coming in a 5-3 win against Sebokeng Masters last week. From the performance he had, we wouldn’t be surprised if he were to score himself a Man of the Match award for this match.

With the way things are going, it seems like the Top 8 that we are aiming for, might be selling ourselves short. Top 4 might be on the cards. But let’s wait and see as OBaba is hosting Phiri Masters next week. Expect fireworks!
