A Month of Truth and Accountability

May closed with another painful result for Fathers Football Club, as we suffered a 4–3 defeat at home to newly formed Zoebazu. What was meant to be a chance to redeem a difficult month instead confirmed the reality that things are not going according to plan.

We started the match brightly and took the lead through Ninja, who opened his account for the club in his first season. But just before halftime, a defensive lapse gifted Zoebazu an equaliser, shifting the momentum at a crucial moment.

Match – Report

The second half brought more frustration. Zoebazu struck twice in quick succession to make it 3–1. Sgubudu pulled one back to give us hope, but the visitors responded again to stretch the score to 4–2. Sgubudu completed his brace late in the match to make it 4–3, but despite the fight shown in the final minutes, the damage had already been done. The result sealed a tough month and dropped us to 8th place on the league table.

But the story of this week extends beyond the pitch…

Fathers FC vs Zoebazu Masters | SMSL Clash at Bobzzns (31 May 2026)

In the days leading up to the match, our supporters arrived at training to voice their concerns about the team’s direction. Instead of finding a full squad preparing for the weekend, they were met with only a handful of players and one member of management. Training could not continue due to low numbers, and the fans expressed their frustrations directly to the representative present.

On Sunday, after another disappointing performance, the supporters again made their dissatisfaction known. Their message was clear: something needs to change.

The club’s management has acknowledged these concerns and committed to addressing them urgently and transparently.

This coming week, we travel to White City to face The Great, another new side in the league. Although they sit 13th with just one win in nine matches, that single victory came against title contenders Limpopo, a reminder that no opponent can be taken lightly.

As we navigate this difficult period, we call on our supporters to continue standing with the team. Your presence, your voice, and your belief matter more now than ever.
